OSU Masters Candidate Angie Thompson provides an overview of beaver related restoration (BRR) and the ways that beavers can help restore degraded streams and riverscapes. OSU Professor Hannah Gosnell then presents findings from recent research on BRR on ranches around the US West dealing with incised streams. Angie and Hannah both discuss how BRR can help ranchers adapt to climate change, but that welcoming beavers onto a ranch can be tricky business. Hannah also goes over some recommendations for ranchers and other private landowners who are interested in working with beavers to restore their aquatic/riparian ecosystems and enhance their ability to adapt to climate change.
